Garden the front

While I'm visiting an old friend in Edinburgh, I'm accessing my journal via a cafe. It should still work. But private note, the FP group won't accept messages via the webmail system so I'll respond to anything new once I get back home.

Anyway, onto the business of posting photo's.

I visited North Wales  recently, and stopped off in Bodnant gardens. Bodnant is an old mansion whose original owners were totally engrossed in bringing plants form everywhere and seeing if they could survive in Britain. Since most of them did, the grounds are full of plants from all over the place. I only took a few shots here as things grabbed my attention.

First, one of the sculptures.

She's one of a pair, but the other one is rather battered.

Hows this for a colourful starburst?

It's one of the water lilies, and I was lucky to get an angle where the water is nearly invisible.

Now for a Rhododendron.

I've never seen a rhody that mix of colours before.

An example of the local wildlife.

This one had been hovering at around navel level for several minutes so I'd notice it.

Finally, one for "Toby"

Good for the otters I say ;)

As always, more soon.

Oooh! Mind if I snag the lily one for a userpic?

re: otters/fish:
<Toby>But that's what fish are for. If they fill an otter's belly, they have fulfilled their purpose in life.</Toby>

Lily and otter (and that sounds like a comedy duo :) )

Please use it, I'm just happy that other people like my work and consider it worth using.

As to fish, I know a lake which has fancy carp so large they could probably eat any otter trying to snack on their little cousins. It also has white moorhens!
